Access Services (Keys and CMU ID Card Access)

The SCS Building Facilities group manages all initiatives and issues pertaining to the physical spaces occupied by the School of Computer Science.

Key distribution and tracking

Keys are available in GHC 4107, email building@cs.cmu.edu for an appointment.  Valid ID (CMU ID preferable) is required. There are certain labs in SCS that handle their own key distribution.  If you need a key for a lab, we suggest you verify with the lab owner/personnel first.

If you are locked out of your office after-hours, CMU Police can provide access. They can be reached at 412-268-2323.

Access card administration

Your CMU ID card will open the exterior doors of most CMU buildings after regular business hours and on weekends and holidays.  However, you may also require access to departmental corridors on certain floors within SCS buildings.  You can stop by our office (GHC 4107) or submit a request to get those access privileges. We will need the nine-digit number from your CMU ID card to complete this process.

If you need a new CMU ID Card, the HUB handles ID Card and Plaid Cash services for the entire campus community. The HUB is located in the lower level of Warner Hall Visit their website for more information.

Building security coordination

We serve as liaisons with CMU Campus Police for all public safety and law enforcement needs in SCS.  However, if you see an emergency or crime happening, do not hesitate to call Campus PD directly at 412-268-2323. If you see something, say something.
